School Board Election Information

The board of trustees consists of seven members elected to serve, without compensation, for
overlapping terms of three years each. Elections are conducted in May. Following the election,
the board elects a president, vice-president, and secretary to serve for one-year terms.

The next board election is scheduled for May 1, 2027, with two open seats for three years. Place 5 and Place 6

• Residence – 1 year in state and 6 months in school district prior to filing deadline.
• Age – 18 years
• Must be registered voter in territory elected from the filing deadline.
• A person ineligible to serve as a member of the board of a district if the person has been convicted of a felony or an offense under Penal Code 43.021.

• Candidate filing period to file application for place on the ballot is:  January 6, 2027 - February 12, 2027
• All applications filed are public records and open to inspection upon request.

The Texas Election Code designates the Secretary of State as the chief election officer of the State of Texas. In order to provide information on the electoral process to all Texans, his office has prepared this
Guide in the expectation that increased information will result in increased participation.
