The School Counseling Program at S&S Elementary supports the school community, students, parents, and staff in providing a positive learning environment that is favorable to developing skills for success today and tomorrow. The guidance program is directed toward the personal, social, emotional, intellectual, and career growth of each student. The goal of the program is to provide each child with the opportunity to develop a positive sense of self and become effective students, responsible citizens, and lifelong learners.
Ram Roundup is an after-school program that we offer at the elementary school.
The program will provide students with homework support, fun activities, and a snack (Monday-Thursday). Students will be provided snacks on Fridays, but will need to bring their own breakfast and lunch. Our program will follow our school calendar daily until 5:30 PM, with parents/guardians responsible for child transportation.
To make your first Ram Roundup payment, you will need school IDs for your student(s) by calling the office at 903-893-0767 or emailing lisa.bullard@sscisd.net.
On our website (www.sscisd.net), go to Students, Food Service, EZSchoolPay.com and register. You will pay online for Ram Roundup.
If you have any more questions, please message lisa.bullard@sscisd.net or jan.trinklein@sscisd.net
Mission Statement
The mission of the S & S Consolidated Independent School District’s Gifted and Talented Education Program is to provide students within its district educational opportunities, which will enrich their unique social, emotional, and intellectual needs.
To help all students reach their potential, the Gifted and Talented Education program will provide a challenging and stimulating environment that will accommodate student's differences and that will encourage students to reach their potential. While the Gifted and Talented Program is designed to meet the unique needs of the identified gifted students, it shall appropriately reinforce and be compatible with other programs in the school district.
The S & S CISD gifted education plan conforms to state law and rule and follows the legally mandated "State Plan for the Education of the Gifted and Talented" developed by the Division of Advanced Academic Services of the Texas Education Agency.
Identification
S&S Elementary uses both quantitative and qualitative data to identify students for gifted program services. Ability and achievement test scores along with parent and teacher input are reviewed by the placement committee. Students whose data indicates that gifted program services are required will be placed in the program. For specific information related to testing, please contact the campus gifted specialist.
Gifted and Talented Education Program
State Definition
The Texas definition for Gifted/Talented is as follows: Gifted and Talented students are those who excel consistently or who show the potential to excel in any one or combination of the following areas: general intellectual ability, specific subject matter aptitude, creative and productive thinking ability, ability in the visual and performing arts, and psychomotor ability.
S & S CISD Gifted and Talented Program is based on general intellectual ability, specific subject matter ability and creative production.
Gifted and talented students require educational experiences beyond those normally provided by the regular program in order to realize their contribution to self and society. Gifted and talented children are those identified by professionally qualified persons who by virtue of outstanding abilities are capable of high performance.
All schools in our district use ParentSquare for school communication primarily with email, text, and app notifications.
ParentSquare automatically syncs with our student information system to generate an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number. We encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified.
ParentSquare is a safe, secure, and modern approach to communication and collaboration between school and home. Learn more and get started today by viewing our ParentSquare web page.
